ABOUT
"You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved."
- Ansel Adams

About Preston
Preston Yamasaki is a portrait, headshot, and event photographer based in Orange County, CA. Preston's photographic journey began in 2020 from his passion for nature and wildlife, photographing birds and the natural landscapes of Southern California. He quickly discovered and experimented with other forms of photography such as sports, food, astrophotography, and street photography, but really found the most meaning in portraiture, music concerts, and events. Since then, Preston has been photographing graduating seniors, music soloists, rock and punk band concerts, classical chamber music recitals, and of course, his friends and family.
In addition to his love for photography, Preston also has a passion in music and holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Viola Performance from Chapman University and the University of Colorado Boulder, respectively. In relating his musical background to photography, Preston says, "I believe photography and music is such an interesting pairing because, while music has the ability to evoke emotions auditorily, photography has the power to tell stories visually. When combined, the possibilities for storytelling and emotional expression are endless." Preston's mission with photography, as well as music, is to create meaningful work the brings people closer to understanding the ever-changing complexities of the human spirit and the emotional nuances that make us feel connected to one another.
Mission & Philosophy
Preston's mission is to use his artistic and creative backgrounds to make this world a better place. He strives to create a positive, optimistic, and stress-free photographic experience for his community while doing what he can to advocate for the natural environment and to help celebrate the people who make our lives so beautiful.
