  • What payment methods do you accept?
I accept cash, personal checks, Venmo, or Zelle. I do not accept cashier’s checks, money orders, or Paypal.
  • Why do you charge a non-refundable initial payment?
The non-refundable initial payment is to secure my time and services with you and to prevent other potential clients from taking your spot. It also helps me to prevent any accidental double bookings or unnecessary confusion.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you have to cancel and/or reschedule your photoshoot, you generally have until 24 hours leading up to the photoshoot to notify me without incurring any additional cancellation fees. Cancellations and requests for rescheduling occurring less than 24 hours leading up to the photoshoot will incur a $30 cancellation/rescheduling fee, with some exceptions. *Note: This is not the full cancellation policy. To view the full policy, please send a request via email.
  • Do you offer any discounts?
Yes! I offer group booking discounts as well as retired and active military/first responder discounts!
  • Do I need to provide proof to receive a discount?
Yes. Retired and active military/first responder families must provide proof with an I.D. card, retirement certificate, or any other formal documentation. Pictures, photocopies, or scans are acceptable and will be kept confidential. Groups do not need to provide proof.
  • How do Military/First Responder discounts work?
Immediate families of active and retired military service members can receive up to a 25% discount upon showing proof of service via an I.D. card, retirement certificate, or other formal documentation. This applies to members of any branch of the military, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, paramedics, EMT's, etc.
  • How do group booking discounts work?
If you know other people who are also looking for portraits, you can book photoshoots as a group and receive 5% OFF per client, up to 20% (4 clients). For example, if there are 3 clients in a group, each client will receive 15% off their desired photoshoot package. A minimum of 2 clients is required to receive a group discount. Individual client scheduling will still have to take place in order to more easily accommodate each client's availability and needs. However, if all members of the group would like to take photos together, please let me know which group member's shoot you all would like to join together on!
  • What is the best way to contact you?
If you have any questions or concerns, the best way to contact me is via email at prestonleephotos@gmail.com
  • Why should I hire you as my photographer?
I’m so glad you asked! Nowadays, it can be a daunting task to choose just one photographer from a list of dozens in your local area that have widely varying price points. My goal is to make high-quality portraits more accessible and as hassle-free as possible! I want to make sure that you get photos that you can be proud of and photos that you can be confident sharing with the people around you.
  • What photography services do you offer exactly?
I offer a few different services. Mostly geared towards portraits and headshots, I offer either outdoor portrait sessions in a location of your choice, or in-home studio sessions with professional lighting and backdrops all from the comfort of your own home. In addition to portraits and headshots, I also accept inquiries for events and concerts. Prints of my personal photography projects are also available for purchase via email request.
  • Do you shoot weddings or engagement photos?
Unfortunately I do not currently shoot weddings. However, I do offer engagement and elopement photos as part of my portrait services!
  • How long will it be until I receive my final retouched photos?
Generally no longer than 2 weeks from the day of the shoot! After your photoshoot is complete, I will conduct an initial sorting to get rid of any unusable photos. Proofs of all the usable photos with basic edits applied should be available within 1-3 days so you’ll be able to choose which ones you like best. Once you’ve chosen your photos, they’ll go through a final retouching process.
  • What adjustments will you make when retouching my photos?
For the proofs, I’ll make very basic edits to exposure, highlights, shadows, contrast, crop, and clarity just so you get the overall gist of the photo. For the final retouching process, I’ll make more in-depth, detailed edits such as smoothing skin, removing blemishes/unwanted objects, color grading, and saturation.
  • What should I wear for my photoshoot?
As a starting point, I normally tell people to wear something that both fits/feels comfortable and that best tells your personality. This gives you a chance to unlock your own sense of creativity and to show people who you really are! For indoor headshots I suggest wearing something simple, yet clean and formal or "upscale casual." Ideally with only a few muted or subtle colors and without any super complex patterns. Since you’ll have access to your closet, if you have trouble deciding, we’ll be able to shoot multiple outfits and you’ll be able to choose which ones you like best! For outdoor portraits, which tend to be more dynamic, I would suggest anywhere from a “nice casual” to a business casual or formal look. Feel free to get more creative with your outfit, but try to keep any complex color patterns to a minimum. In short - If you like it, wear it!
  • Do I have to go buy a new outfit for my photoshoot?
Of course not! Many people think that they have to go out and buy new clothes for this special occasion. While it’s not everyday that you get quality pictures taken of yourself, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to spend even more money on new clothes. Most people have plenty of options available to them in their closets, so feel free to mix, match, and experiment with different options, combinations, and color schemes to find one that you like. If you do decide to purchase a new outfit, I'd recommend steering away from extremely complex or bright textures, colors, or patterns.
  • Do you offer hair and makeup services?
Unfortunately, I do not offer hair and makeup services. Many people can often get away with doing their own makeup, but if you would like professional makeup done, Boulder has several fantastic, local hair salons and makeup artists.
  • Is jewelry okay?
Absolutely! A simple necklace, earrings, or bracelet can really bring out a nice accent and glow. But keep in mind, similar to complex clothing patterns, too much jewelry can distract from what this photoshoot is really about: YOU!
  • How long will it take to set up your equipment?
The equipment I use for indoor headshots is meant to be set up quickly, so it shouldn’t take longer than 5 to 10 minutes, max. For outdoor portraits, I’ll have significantly less gear, so we’ll be able to get started right away!
  • The weather suddenly changed right before my outdoor photoshoot. What happens now?
I understand that the weather can sometimes be very unpredictable and can change very drastically. If we need to, we can reschedule your shoot to the next possible time. If the weather interrupts us in the middle of your shoot, we can wait about 10 to 15 minutes for it to clear up. If it looks like we’ll have to cancel the remainder of the shoot, we can reschedule another half session for a different day.
  • It’s the morning of my photoshoot and I think I might be sick. What should I do?
Stay home! Your health, safety, and wellbeing is the number 1 priority. If you don’t feel good, you probably won’t look your best in the pictures either. Let me know as soon as you can so we can reschedule.
  • How much space will there need to be for an in-home studio portrait session?
In short - the more space, the better, but usually a space that’s about 6 feet x 6 feet is functional. I’ll be using mostly portable gear so I’ll be able to move lights and stands around as I see fit.
  • Can my dog or cat be in the photos with me?
Of course! However, please let me know beforehand that you want them to be a part of the shoot. Keep in mind, your pets are YOUR responsibility. If we’re outdoors, I HIGHLY recommend that you bring an extra human along to be your designated cat/dog handler.
